Stone Cave

An installation I created at Dunedin Restaurant, a New Zealand inspired space designed by Michael Soriano of Onairos Design. The piece was created by vertically stack-laminating cedar 2"x6"s all the way up the wall. The initial profile of the piece was rough cut before being laminated together so when the piece was glued together and onto the wall there was a general shape of the way the piece was to undulate across the surface. Specialty wood carving discs for angle grinders were used to carve the entirety of the wall with overhangs and protrusions to mimic a natural stone crag face.
