As the centerpiece to lobby, this large-scale artwork was conceptualized as a way to tie together Sheratons design concept of “disrupted geometry” with the proximity of the property to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Angular bands of color (46 in total) with depths and dimensions ranging from 1/2” thick aluminum plate to 2“x 6” aluminum tubing give the installation a dynamically textured surface. This artwork was made from aluminum and high density MDF, and was painted in an automotive paint booth with high gloss automotive finish.
